Ancillary Task - Research

Ancillary Task:

Your ancillary task is where you will complete the following:

1. A digipack (CD Cover, inside, insert and CD) for the album’s release;
2. A magazine advertisement for the digipak.

Task 1: Analysis

For this task you will produce:

•  An analysis of 3-5 of each aspect of the digipak
• Explore camera angles, mise-en-scene, colours, fonts, house style, etc.
• What are the conventions found in this media form?
• How is the band/artist being represented? (Denotation and connotation)
• Who is the audience for this album?
• What genre is this album? How is this shown/represented?
• How will these ideas be transferred to your own product?

Task 2: Listener Profile & Mood Board

 

For this task you will need to produce:

• A mood board/profile illustrating your initial ideas and inspirations and your intended audience/listener looking for your digipak & poster.

• This should provide the following information:
  • What age range do they fit into?
  • What gender are they?
  • What brands do they like?
  • What music do they like?
  • What socio-economic group do they fit into?
  • Potential colours
  • Potential fonts
  • Inspirational digipak and posters
  • Inspirational images

• This profile should be engaging and inventive, try to think of innovative ways you can show who your listeners are.

Task 3: Storyboard

For this task you must produce:

• A storyboard that explores possible shots for your poster and album.

Task 4: Mock Ups

• Produce 2-3 mock ups of each section of the ancillary.
